Frozen Four Odds: Minnesota Favored, Boston College Not Far Behind

For entertainment purposes only, of course.

Hannah Foslien

Early lines and props have been posted for the Frozen Four, and Minnesota is favored to come out on top by a slim margin over Boston College.

Minnesota wins NCAA title: +150
Boston College wins NCAA title: +175
Union wins NCAA title: +250
North Dakota wins NCAA title: +550

That shouldn't be much of a surprise, for a couple reasons -- first, Minnesota is #1 overall in the Pairwise. Obviously. But as the #1 facing the #15, they have the much easier path to get to the championship game in the first place.

Here are the numbers for the semifinals:

Team Spread Money Line Over/Under
Union +1.5 (-240) +135 Over 5.5 (-120)
Boston College -1.5 (+195) -165 Under 5.5 (-110)
------------------- ------------- -------------- ---------------------
North Dakota +1.5 (-180) +200 Over 5.5 (-115)
Minnesota -1.5 (+147) -250 Under 5.5 (-115)

A couple notes here:

  • I'm kind of surprised BC is favored to beat Union, to be honest. Union has been on fire and looks a lot like BC championship teams of the past -- crazy depth, great goaltending, and entering the tournament on a scorching run.
  • BC has a better chance of winning the NCAA tournament than to beat Union by 2? What?

Thoughts on the odds? BC getting too much love? Union not enough?

No Hobey lines yet but, I mean, lol. #HobeyDowd tho
