Boston College Men’s Ice Hockey’s Greg Brown Returns to Team USA As Assistant Coach

Rest of 2016-17 Tournament Coaching Staff Retained

Current Boston College men’s ice hockey associate head coach Greg Brown is returning to USA Hockey’s World Junior coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 tournament, USA Hockey World Junior team general manager Jim Johannson announced Friday afternoon.

Brown will be making his third appearance as an assistant coach on the team. In addition to last season’s tournament championship team, Brown was also an assistant coach on the 2014 Team USA World Junior team that finished fifth at the 2014 tournament.

St. Cloud State’s Bob Motzko is also returning to the team as the head coach. Motzko was the head coach of the 2016-17 tournament championship team.

Minnesota’s Grant Potulny, Providence’s Kris Mayotte and Air Force’s Steve Miller also return to the team as assistants along with Brown.

The 2016-17 USA Hockey team won the World Junior Championship, going undefeated in tournament play. USA Hockey won the gold medal on a thrilling 5-4 shootout win against Canada.
