10. OT Emmett Cleary, Boston College. Boston College has two options in its quest to replace Anthony Costanzo at left tackle. The first is John Wetzel, a junior who played in 14 games as Costanzo’s reserve over the last two seasons; the second is Cleary, the starter at right tackle last season. What does one hold over the other? Wetzel can point to his experience on the blind side, albeit in a secondary role. Cleary has starting experience, which cannot be discounted. At this point, it is unlikely Kreider will play in the best-of-three quarterfinals. But he could be available to York at some point in the latter stages of the Hockey East Tournament or the NCAA Tournament, where the Eagles will likely be a No. 1 seed.

There are a few contenders. One is Steve Donahue, who took over a Boston College team that finished 15-16 overall last season with essentially the same personnel as he has this season. But contrary to expectations, BC isn’t a .500 team this season. This season, Donahue has turned BC’s so-so offense into Cornell on steroids, and the Eagles have turned into a possible NCAA tournament team, albeit one very much on the bubble.

The Eagles very much look like a team that peaked before Christmas, as they went 10-2 before the holiday (with a loss to Yale their worst of all) and 8-9 since. Plus, the shine of the Eagles' win over Texas A&M in Orlando, their only victory over a team in the RPI Top 50, has worn off slightly, thanks to the Aggies' up-and-down performance in the Big 12. In the ACC, the Eagles have been less "up-and-down" and more flat out mediocre. Sweeps of Maryland and Virginia Tech, are helpful, but losses at Clemson and Florida State, along with a sweep at the hands of Miami are problematic. The Eagles final conference game, Sunday's home date with Wake Forest Demon Deacons, will do little to improve their fortunes, which means Boston College has a lot of work to do at the ACC Tournament in Greensboro.
