I know I'll miss preseason AHL/ECHL stuff, so look out for minor leaguers to rejoin the recaps as their seasons start. But make sure to check out Tommy Cross's recent game tying goal for the Providence Bruins!
Chris Krieder scored a goal for the Rangers and kept them alive so they could make it to overtime. The Rangers went on to win this game. Fellow BC alum Kevin Hayes registered 2 shots and 1 hit in this game - interestingly, his brother Jimmy registered double that (4 shots and 2 hits) for the Bruins on the same night.
Brian Gionta assisted on a goal in Buffalo's 4-0 win over Toronto. Cam Atkinson assisted on Columbus's 4th goal in a 5-2 win over Nashville. Johnny Gaudreau, who is playing with his same linemates from last season, assisted on Calgary's first goal in a 2-0 win over Colorado.
Brian Boyle's Lightning lost to Pittsburgh 4-2, but he scored a great goal for Tampa Bay in the loss.
Jimmy Hayes assisted on the Bruins 1st goal in their loss to the Rangers. J. Hayes also recorded 3 hits. Kreider and Kevin Hayes picked up 1 shot and 1 hit each in NY's 3-2 win.
Nathan Gerbe registered 3 hits and scored a goal in Carolina's shoot out win over Washington.
When Patrick Eaves and Brian Boyle's Stars and Lightning played each other Eaves recorded 3 hits, while Boyle picked up a 5 minute fighting penalty and a then a 10 minute misconduct. Nothing else of note out of Eagles to start October, as most BC alums were benched for these games to give ice time to players that may or may not be sent back to the AHL.
Brian Gionta and Jack Eichel both picked up their only point of the game by assisting on the same goal when Buffalo lost to Columbus, showing that one of BC's first big stars and BU's golden boy can work together now that they're on the same team :)
Brian Dumoulin picked up an assist for Pittsburgh and Nathan Gerbe grabbed his second point of the week with an assist for Carolina as the Hurricanes beat the Penguins 2-1.
Schneider made 21 saves on 23 shots to lead the Devils to a shoot out win against the Flyers.
Brian Boyle, who is having a solid preseason, recorded 1 goal and 1 assist for Tampa as they beat Florida 3-2. His goal tied the game.
Ben Smith recorded 4 hits in San Jose's loss to Anaheim.
The only NHL game played on Sunday did not feature any BC alums.
