Eagles in the Pros: October 19 - 25

A slower week than usual for BC alums in the NHL/AHL/ECHL... which still means it was a pretty great week for former Eagles.

October 19

NHL

Chris Kreider picked up an assist as the Rangers defeated San Jose 4-0 in the only NHL game on Monday night.

October 20

NHL

Brooks Orpik assisted on Washington's second goal in their 6-2 win over Calgary. Orpik also recorded 6 hits in the game. Johnny Gaudreau assisted on both of Calgary's goals.

Rob Scuderi assisted on Pittsburgh's second goal in their 3-2 OT victory over Florida.

Brian Boyle assisted on Tampa's last regulation goal (with a great rebound pass) in their shootout loss to Nashville. Boyle also continues to be important for Tampa on face offs.

Cory Schneider made 18 saves on 20 shots in New Jersey's win over Arizona. Stephen Gionta recorded 4 hits in the win.

Atkinson was a healthy scratch for the Blue Jackets—he has 3 points this season, but is tied for worst on the team with a -7 rating.

Patrick Eaves was placed on IR by Dallas due to a lower body injury.

October 21

NHL

Jimmy Hayes scored a goal in Boston's OT loss to the Flyers. 

October 22

NHL

Kevin Hayes and Chris Kreider both scored as the Rangers defeated Arizona 4-1.
Kreider tied the game off a great pass from Mats Zuccarello:


And Hayes scored the game winner on a wide open net:

Cory Schneider made 35 saves in New Jersey's win over Ottawa. Stephen Gionta earned a fine for spearing Mark Borowiecki during this game

Atkinson picked up an assist after sitting out as a healthy scratch last game. His Blue Jackets lost to Minnesota.

October 23

NHL

Johnny Gaudreau assisted on Calgary's first goal and their game winning goal in a much needed OT win over Detroit.

Brooks Orpik assisted on Washington's 4th goal in a 7-4 victory over Edmonton. As usual, he was also an important defensive presence for the Caps.

Jimmy Hayes registered 5 hits in Boston's win over the Islanders.

Brian Boyle was a scratch for Tampa due to an undisclosed injury.

AHL

Brian Gibbons picked up an assist on Hartford's second goal in their win over Syracuse.

Paul Carey notched an assist on Hershey's lone goal in their 1-0 victory over Utica.

Tommy Cross recorded 2 assists in his return to Providence from Boston, helping the Bruins to beat Lehigh Valley 5-3.

ECHL

Barry Almeida continued his offensive streak, scoring a goal in Utah's loss to Allen.

October 24

NHL

Kevin Hayes and Chris Kreider picked up assists on the same goal in New York's loss to the Flyers.

Atkinson notched an assist on CBJ's tying goal in their 4-3 win over Colorado. This was the first win of the season for Columbus.

Noah Hanifin and Nathan Gerbe both picked up assists in Carolina's loss to San Jose.

Cory Schneider made 26 saves as the Devils defeated the Sabres on Saturday night. Neither Gionta brother scored in this sibling rivalry game, but Stephen did register 3 hits. He's shaping up to be an important tough guy for the Devils.

AHL

John Whitney recorded a goal and an assist in Bridgeport's loss to St. John's.

Mike Matheson scored Portland's lone goal in their loss to Albany.

Brian Gibbons picked up an assist in Hartford's 3-2 loss to Hershey. Paul Carey recorded an assist for Hershey in the game.

Bill Arnold assist on Stockton's only goal in their loss to San Antonio.

ECHL

Steven Whitney picked up two assists for Norfolk, but his team lost to Orlando 6-3.

Almeida's goal streak came to an end, but he continued his offensive streak by contributing 3 assists to Utah's 6-5 loss to Allen.

October 25

NHL

Johnny Gaudreau assisted on Calgary's lone goal in their 4-1 loss to the Rangers. This was Gaudreau's 9th assist of the season. Kevin Hayes assisted on New York's first goal.

AHL

Joe Whitney recorded a goal and an assist for the second game in a row, this time in a Bridgeport win over St. John's.

John Muse made 29 saves to help Texas defeat Iowa 4-1.
