Today is the final day of Week 1 of the 2018 BC Interruption GIF of the Year tournament! Yesterday’s matchup was the closest so far (though still not very close), with Sam Apuzzo’s ankle-breaking goal against Maryland taking down The Duke Dagger 65-35 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Today’s matchup pits another lacrosse GIF against one of the top plays of the women’s hockey season.
Dempsey Arsenault of BC lacrosse scored a sensational no-look behind-the-back goal against Stony Brook in the NCAA quarterfinals. It was SportsCenter Top 10 quality, and it helped the Eagles advance to the Final Four.
Daryl Watts had literally — in the literal sense of the word literally — dozens of sensational goals this season, but none so good that you just have to laugh at the absurdity of all. Watts embarrasses a New Hampshire defender one-on-one with a through the legs dangle before roofing a shot from the doorstep. Epic. This one was #3 on the SC Top 10, and was also Watts’ 3rd consecutive goal of the period (out of 4) on her way to a natural quad trick.
Here’s a look at the updated bracket:
Today’s vote will end at 8:30am on Friday morning. We’ll be back with our second half of the BCI GotY octofinals on Monday morning!
