Another week has passed us by, and with it has gone another round of GIF voting. Today’s vote marks the end of the quarterfinals for the 2017 Boston College GIF of the Year tournament, filling out the semifinals.
We’ve had close votes all week, and our third quarterfinal was no exception. Tatiana Cortez’s magical walk-off home run held off a late charge by Davon Jones’ halfback pass by a 51-49 tally. It wasn’t so much a late charge as someone attempting to stuff the ballot box after Cortez had a solid lead all day Wednesday... nice try, but the system has ways of mitigating multiple votes from the same IP address.
Let’s get right to our final vote of the week!
Christopher Brown absolutely dunked on the Vermont Catamounts in the final seconds of a BC blowout, and it was extremely satisfying. The goal was good enough to eliminate Incredulous Daz from the GIF tournament by a 60-40 score — but is it good enough to make to the Final Four?
Kenzie Kent is basically Wonder Woman, and her 5 goal, 5 assist game in the NCAA championship game was something to behold. The voters rewarded her with a 75-25 win over Barry Almeida’s silk-smooth score in the pros. Her Most Outstanding Player award was nice, but can she earn the prestige of a spot in the GIF semifinals?
Let’s take a look at the updated bracket:
You have 24 hours to vote, ending at 9am EDT on Friday. We’ll be back on Monday with the semifinals!
