Cinderella will have a chance to try on the glass slipper Thursday night.
That’s because, after a grueling double overtime game against the No. 2 seed out of the Midwest, The Scarlet and Gray, Team Challenge ALS advanced to the final round of The Basketball Tournament. Team Challenge ALS defeated The Scarlet and Gray 88-83 in double overtime Tuesday evening in the semifinal round of The Basketball Tournament.
BC alumnus and team GM Sean Marshall scored 21 points off the bench in the effort.
The Scarlet and Gray opened the game the apparent stronger team, opening up a sizable advantage.
Then, Marshall checked into the game and spearheaded a comeback effort, giving Team Challenge ALS the 30-28 lead at halftime.
The second half, and both overtimes, were a back-and-forth affair. While Team Challenge ALS spent much of the second half in the lead, The Scarlet and Gray was never far behind, and seemingly had an answer for Team Challenge ALS every step of the way.
Team Challenge ALS eventually pulled away with the victory in the second overtime.
Team Challenge ALS will have a tough test in the final, playing the winner of the second semifinal. Boeheim’s Army and Overseas Elite will battle for the right to play Team Challenge ALS Thursday night.
