It was a pretty good weekend overall for BC. The football team didn't lose. The basketball team started strong. Men's hockey won again, and women's hockey extended their own winning streak to 14. The women's hoops team started with a pair of wins. Field hockey won a first round tournament game and just barely got edged by a very good UConn team in the elite eight. As a result, there were plenty of people to choose from for this week's three stars - and the votes were very spread out.
#1 Star: Eli Carter, men's basketball - 12 points (3 first place votes)
Eli Carter led the way for the Eagles as they started the season with an easy win over St. Francis (NY). His veteran presence will be key for BC this season.
#2 Star: Jerome Robinson, men's basketball - 8 points (2 first place votes)
#3 Star: Miles Wood, men's hockey - 6 points
Wood continues to be BC hockey's go-to player, scoring a game winning goal on the power play to beat Michigan State on Friday night.
Honorable mentions:
#4 Alex Carpenter, women's hockey (3 points, 1 first place vote) - She continues to pile up the points and the goals.
#5 BC Women's Basketball (3 points, 1 first place vote) - a vote came in for the entire WBB team, who looked strong in their opening weekend, going 2-0.
#6 Jerry York, men's hockey (3 points) - His timeout settled things down as BC was collapsing against Michigan State.
#7 Haley Skarupa, women's hockey (3 points) - Skarupa led the way for BC against UNH.
#8 Leah Settipane, field hockey (1 point) - She backstopped BC's win over Albany and kept the Eagles in it against UConn.
#9 Thatcher Demko, men's hockey (1 point) - Speaking of good goalies.
#10 The bye week, football (1 point) - Ha. But, yeah.
#11 Colin White, men's hockey (1 point) - He continues to be very, very impressive.
