Keeping tabs on the various non-football, non-hockey, non-hoops goings on across Boston College athletics.
Women's Tennis
Last Tuesday, senior Jessica Wacnik won the ITA/USTA Northeast Regional Championship at the Cull-Heyman Tennis Center at Yale. Wacnik earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Yale's Hanna Yu. She becomes the first Eagle to win a regional title.
Following the victory, Wacnik sat down with Eagle Marketing to talk about the big win.
As the Northeast Regional Champion, Wacnik has earned a spot at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championship in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. early next month. Congrats to Jessica!
Men's Tennis
Last week, the men's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championships in Flushing Meadow, N.Y. Philip Nelson, Hank Workman and Kent Mukai all represented the program down in New York.
Nelson was defeated in his first match, 6-1, 6-1, but came back to defeat Colgate's senior captain, 7-6, 6-4. Workman dropped his match to UPenn, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Mukai lost to Princeton 7-5, 6-4. The doubles tandem of Nelson and Mukai lost to Yale 8-6.
The Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 31- Nov. 2 in Fort Myers, Fla. at the Florida Gulf Coast Invite.
Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team had a rough go of things over the weekend. Coming off consecutive 1-0 victories over ACC opponents to move to 10-6-0 on the year, the Eagles fell to Wake Forest 4-3 on Thursday night in Winston-Salem, and followed that up with a 2-1 overtime loss at Duke on Sunday.
With a pair of losses, Boston College falls to 10-8-0 overall but just 3-6-0 in conference play. The Eagles are now in 10th place in the conference standings with just one regular season game to play -- vs. Notre Dame on Saturday (7 p.m.).
Field Hockey
The women's field hockey team, however, keeps rolling. Eighth ranked Virginia became the fourth top 10 ranked program -- joining #2 Connecticut, #4 Syracuse and #9 Louisville -- to fall to Boston College, and the Eagles didn't even need OT to notch the victory this time.
"We talked about having no regrets at the end of this game, regardless of the result, and the girls really embraced that. They worked hard for the entire 70 minutes," said head coach Ainslee Lamb.
The Eagles improve to 3-3 on the year and earn the conference's 3 seed to next month's ACC Championship. They'll face -- who else but -- the 6th seeded Syracuse Orange, putting a few more #OrangeEagle points on the line.
First up is the Eagles regular season finale at Harvard on Tuesday, October 28 at 6 p.m.
Women's Cross Country
The Boston College women's cross country team placed first overall in the CCSU Mini Meet Friday afternoon with a score of 52 points. BC placed all seven runners in the top 30 in the varsity 3K race. Next up for the program is the ACC Championships on Friday, October 31 at Earlysville, Virginia.
Women's Volleyball
Like the women's soccer team, the women's volleyball team did not enjoy their trip to North Carolina over the weekend. The Eagles fell to both North Carolina and N.C. State to fall to 8-12 overall and 3-6 in the ACC.
BC loses to No. 9 @UNCVolleyball in three sets, 25-12, 25-12, 25-21.

Still plenty of matches left to play in what's been a surprisingly good season so far for the program. The Eagles are off on Friday but will play Notre Dame at home on Sunday. Last week, BC fell to Notre Dame in five sets.
