Boston College alumna Allyson Swaby (CSOM ‘18) is playing as a defender for the Jamaican national soccer team in the Women’s World Cup. Her sister, Chantelle Swaby, is a rising senior at Rutgers, and both Swaby sisters managed to play their way onto the Jamaican national team roster. It’s the first Women’s World Cup appearance not just for Jamaica, for for any Caribbean nation. Professionally, Allyson played for the AS Roma women’s team this past year, the team’s inaugural season.

The Swabys hail from West Hartford, and their father, Lennox Swaby, was born in Manchester, Jamaica. Connecticut’s Fox 61 put together a short feature on the sisters and their journey from New England to the Jamaican national team.

Both Allyson and Chantelle started for the Reggae Girlz in their first game on Sunday against Brazil. You can watch their second Group B match tomorrow, Friday June 14th, at 12pm on Fox!
