For a brief seven minutes at Newton Campus Lacrosse & Soccer Field, it looked like the Boston College Eagles would pick up their fourth ACC victory in the last scheduled home regular season game of the year.
No. 12 Virginia, however, had other plans.
After BC’s Jenna Bike gave the Eagles the lead in the 51st minute, her first goal of the year, the Hoos scored two unanswered goals to defeat the Eagles 2-1 to close out the Eagles’ home schedule.
The game was not without controversy. Carly Leipzig scored a goal in the 55th minute which would have given the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. The goal, however, was called back on an offside.
“We earned that second goal and it wasn't offside,” BC head coach Allison Foley said. “UVA would have never come back from a 2-0 deficit.”
BC will travel to Pittsburgh Oct. 26 to close out ACC play.
