With Boston College Lacrosse falling in the ACC tournament semifinals, the Eagles had to wait for Sunday night’s selection show to see if they would officially be in the NCAA tournament field. Fortunately, the reveal wasn’t a stressful one — the Eagles will be playing in the national tournament starting this Friday as the #4 overall seed against the Fairfield Stags.
It’s a shame BC couldn’t have gotten into the top 3 to get a first round bye (seriously, a 29 team tournament? What?), but after losing two of their last three games of the season to #3 Syracuse, you can’t really complain about with the placement. Should the Eagles get past Fairfield on Friday at 1pm, BC will take on the winner of UMass vs. Temple in the following round.
The biggest downside to being the #4 seed, really, isn’t missing out on the bye given to the top 3 — it’s that BC ended up on the same side of the bracket as juggernaut North Carolina. The Tar Heels seem to be in a league of their own this season, so if the Eagles want to make it to the national championship game, that road will likely take them through Carolina.
First thing’s first, though! Boston College is set to take on the Fairfield Stags this Friday, May 14th. Good luck to the Eagles as they chase that first NCAA championship!
