Sam Apuzzo just completed her career as one of the best student-athletes in Boston College history. Now, she will embark on a new path at Boston College.

Apuzzo, who just graduated this spring, will be retained by the women’s lacrosse program as a graduate assistant, the program announced Saturday evening via the team’s Instagram account. Apuzzo will become the first ever full time graduate assistant for the program in its history.

This is fantastic news for the program. Apuzzo was undoubtedly the best player ever to come through the program (and she has a Tewaaraton Award to prove it). While Apuzzo’s eligibility is now up, she can remain with the program and offer some level of mentorship to a now younger team that will be truly battle tested for the first time this upcoming season. Retaining Apuzzo creates some level of continuity, and that should prove helpful to the program.
