Boston College Women’s Hockey Eviscerates UNH

BC cruises to sweep: 5-1, 7-1

The Boston College women’s hockey team bounced back from last Saturday’s disappointing third period against BU, taking out their anger on the UNH Wildcats. UNH was powerless to stop BC, who racked up 12 goals on the weekend en route to a pair of blowout wins, 5-1 and 7-1.

Delaney Belinskas went off this weekend, tallying four goals including a hat trick on Saturday to improve her total to 11 on the season. The freshman now leads the team in goals, with fellow freshman Caitrin Lonergan second with 9.

The veterans made their presence known as well, as Andie Anastos and Kristyn Capizzano each had a pair of goals in Saturday's blitz. Anastos scored two goals in under 90 seconds, including a laser of a snipe glove side high from the top of the faceoff dot.

Capizzano added a highlight reel goal of her own shortly thereafter, strolling in alone after a great pass by Toni Ann Miano and deking out UNH goalie Kyra Smith before tucking it in the back of the net.

BC is now 9-3-2 overall and 8-2-0 in Hockey East play, with a big game against Northeastern coming up next Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena. It’s too early to mean too much, but BC’s win also moves them up to #8 in the Pairwise - a possibly relevant mark as they push for an NCAA tournament bid.
