It had to be BU, didn't it? The Northeastern Huskies had one of their best seasons in recent program history, going 28-8-1, all but locking up a spot in the NCAA tournament, and likely producing the Patty Kaz winner in Kendall Coyne. It didn't matter yesterday. BU somehow, someway, as they always seem to do in the Hockey East tournament, found a way to win, edging NU 4-3 to pull the upset despite getting heavily outshot.
So here we are. BC is looking for its first Hockey East title since 2011 - BU has won all four since, including three against high flying BC teams that would go on to make the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles survived a bit of a scare yesterday against UConn, as the Huskies rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the third period before BC pulled away for a 4-2 win. They'll need a 60 minute effort today to shake off the demons of recent years and lift the trophy.
