Not only are there three Eagles on the list, but you have to like the chances of one of them coming away with the award.
Alex Carpenter is currently the odds-on favorite to win the award with a 31-40--71 line and leading just about every offensive category including goals, assists, points, goals per game, assists per game, and points per game. She was one of the top players for Team USA at the Olympics, playing on the top line and leading the Americans in scoring.
Haley Skarupa is second in the country in goals and second in points per game with a 28-33--61 line... second to her teammate, Alex Carpenter. But Skarupa isn't second fiddle -- she's been hot in the second half, with multi-point efforts in 6 of her last 10 games. She and Carpenter have been the most lethal tandem in the country, and have talents that complement each other on the Eagles' top line.
Emily Pfalzer has been without question the top defenseman in the country. She's the only blueliner with more than one point per game, putting up a whopping 7-31--38 in 30 games, 11th among all skaters in points per game. But she's not just an offensive force. She often plays below the faceoff circles, pushing the offense, but she has the skill and speed to get back defensively. She's a +55 on the season, 5th in the country among all skaters -- a remarkable achievement for a defenseman putting up so much offense.
Congratulations to the Eagles, and here's to all of them being named to the final three next month!
