Boston College's #1 ranked, undefeated women's hockey team returns from their winter break tonight with their first rivalry clash of the season against Boston University. This is the first time BC has met BU since last year's Hockey East championship game, in which the Terriers stunned BC to claim the tournament title.
Much like last season, BC seems to be the far superior team to BU on paper. But last year, BC had some struggles with the Terriers, dropping a game to them on home ice in addition to the title game. They will be hoping to shake off the BU bugaboo and carry over their scorching form into the second half of the season.
Boston College will be without the services of star freshman netminder Katie Burt, who is on national team duty with the US Under-18 national team at the U-18 women's World Championships. Filling in for Burt is likely to be fellow freshman Gabrielle Switaj, who has only played in relief duty so far in her NCAA career.
There's plenty of time to join the bandwagon as the women look to maintain their #1 rating and drive toward the Frozen Four in Minneapolis. Go Eagles.
