Team USA announced its captain for this weekend's 4 Nations Cup, and it was a familiar face for BC fans:
Alex Carpenter (@carpy05) to serve as captain at #4NationsCup starting at 4pm ET vs. FIN. Alternates: @kbells22 and @Bdecker14
— USA Hockey (@usahockey) November 4, 2014
Alex Carpenter headlines a group of five current Eagles who made the trip to Kamloops, British Columbia for the annual women's hockey tournament between the United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweden. 4 Nations is the third most prestigious women's hockey tournament in the world behind the Olympics and the IIHF Women's World Championship.
Carpenter (F) joins Haley Skarupa (F), Dana Trivigno (F), Emily Pfalzer (D), and Megan Keller (D) as the current Eagles missing time for BC this weekend to represent their country. Graduate Molly Schaus '11 (G) is on the roster as well.
You read that right. Team USA could put an entire starting six of Eagles on the ice if it wanted to:
Skarupa-Carpenter-Trivigno
Pfalzer-Keller
Schaus
That's...bananas.
Needless to say, there has never been so much maroon and gold in red, white, and blue. The tournament kicks off this afternoon at 4pm EST as the puck drops for USA vs. Sweden.
