#5 Boston College Women's Hockey Rolls Over Vermont, 6-1

6 different Eagles score in rout of the Catamounts

After a modest stretch of too-close-for-comfort games, the 5th ranked BC women's hockey team finally put together a stress-free win at Gutterson Field House against the Vermont Catamounts, rolling to a 6-1 win.

BC scored twice in the first and four times in the second, the last of which was a remarkable powerplay goal in which all 5 BC skaters touched the puck. Feast your eyes on this beauty:

That's got to be an early nominee for GIF Of The Year

BC also scored two shorthanded goals, although interestingly, one was an empty-netter midway through the 2nd period as Vermont was playing desperation hockey down big trying to make something happen on a powerplay.

BC's Patty Kazmaier Award candidate, Haley Skarupa, scored another goal and leads the nation in goals with 10 (2nd place has 8) and is tied for the lead in points with 18 (with two fewer games played).

Vermont advertised the game to try to "Pack The Gut" and managed to put together a pretty remarkable crowd of 2,028 fans -- a Hockey East regular season record. I have the sense that it may have played into BC's hands, though; with the bigger crowd it would be a lot harder for BC to just coast through the game.

There's a bit of a concern with how many shots BC gave up (the final shot count was 53-31 BC). I'm not sure I can remember the last time BC gave up that many shots. But fortunately, senior 'tender Corinne Boyles played well and the game was well in hand by the time Vermont put in a goal in garbage time.

BC will look to continue their winning streak against a much tougher opponent tomorrow night at 7pm against Northeastern at Conte Forum.
