NC State 24, Boston College 8: Wolfpack Postgame Quotables

Here's what Dave Doeren and his players had to say after defeating the Eagles at Alumni Stadium on Saturday.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Dave Doeren opening statement...

"We knew that their defense was really good and we would have to play top notch. We knew that we were due for a bunch of takeaways and that was a big part of the win to get four of them. We held them to like 28 yards rushing. If you can do that to BC that says a lot about what your front accomplished in the game because they're good at running the ball. They have a lot of good schemes. I thought our defensive game plan was good and the kids really executed. We tackled well and forced a guy that's not known to throwing the ball, to have to throw it to try and get in the game. Getting the lead and keeping it that way for a while was huge in the game.''

Doeren on the NC State running game...

''We had 139 yards rushing and they were only giving up like 80 so that's pretty good. I mean, could it be better? Yeah - but against that defense, that's pretty salty. We had over 100 yards more than what they normally ... I think they keep people around 240 and we had 350 on offense so you know that's a pretty good day offensively considering what we are going up against.''

Doeren on winning NC State's first game at BC in 10 years...

"I challenged our team at the beginning of the season. I said there are two games we need to win to show progress. It was 12 years since we won at Wake Forest and 10 years since we won here in Boston. We were able to accomplish both of them this season. To me it's great progress by our football team. We are bowl eligible with three to play and our goal is to get better than we were a year ago. Last year we won seven in the regular season and so we have to keep fighting and swinging and see if we can get there.''

Mike Rose on the play of the defensive front...

"I think they played pretty good. I'm very proud of the linebackers and the DB's coming down to help. It took all 11 and they did a great job."

Rose on when the defense knew they would play well today...

"I think after BJ [Hill] got his first [sack], I think I kind of realized that things were going to go good."

Rose on getting past the BC offensive line...

"They're more run-blockers. I guess we put them in a situation where they had to throw the ball."

Rose on being bowl eligible...

"It's great! It's great to have post season opportunity and another game to play. It's good for the coaches so they can get a spring practice type of deal. I'm just happy that the seniors, including myself, get another game to play."

Rose on winning at Wake Forest and Boston College...

"It's building blocks in the program. We want to just keep taking steps and keep building. I think this program has a big future ahead of it."

Jacoby Brissett on his overall play...

"We felt we could make some plays down the field. We [felt] we could take those chances and I think our guys did a good job capitalizing on some of them. We just have to make other ones count."

Brissett on whether playing without RB Matt Dayes added pressure to the offense...

"No. We have other really good players. I think the guys that filled in did a really good job, especially in pass protection, giving me time and helping the offensive line with run calls and things like that. I think those guys did a really good job."

Brissett on his interception throw...

"That was stupid. That's what you're probably going to tell me in that article. It was a stupid interception. I should have never thrown it. It happens, but oh well."

Brissett on bouncing back from the interception...

"That was the main thing, just bouncing back after that one and going out there and still playing."

Brissett on the play of Maurice Morgan

"He is a really good, explosive player for us. He is out there making some really good plays off the line of scrimmage against corners. He is helping us out a lot and he is really expanding our playbook."
