Following their defeat to Virginia Tech last week, oddsmakers installed Boston College as a four point underdog at home against NC State on Saturday.
Despite having lost their last five games, the Eagles are .500 against the spread. Last week's loss to Virginia Tech broke a two-game "winning streak" against the spread, coming on the heels of BC covering against both Clemson and Louisville. The Eagles have only failed to cover two games consecutively once this year, failing to cover a 9.5 point spread against Florida State and a three point spread against Northern Illinois (NIU lost by three, but they were three-point underdogs, so they technically covered).
NC State, meanwhile, enters this week 5-3 against the point spread this season. They failed to cover last week as 13.5 point underdogs to Clemson, and they've only covered the spread once since getting through the weaker part of the schedule in 2015. They opened the year covering against four straight cupcakes, having since covered only the nine-point favorite spread against Wake Forest.
In terms of the over/under, it hasn't yet been released for the game on Saturday, but this will be a case between two teams who seldom hit the over. NC State is 4-4 against the over/under this year, having gone for the over in each of their last two games but hitting the mark only twice in their first six. Owing to their anemic offense and at-times overpowering defense, BC has only covered the over/under twice - the 76-0 win over Howard and the 34-17 loss to Clemson. They have landed with the under in all other games this year.
Game time is slated on Saturday for 12:30 PM.
