Boston College vs. Louisville 2015

It was a pretty woeful day again for the BC offense, but this 8 yard shimmy in to the end zone by Jeff Smith was the Eagles' one major highlight, and gave BC fans some hope as BC pulled to within three points with a whole quarter of play remaining. Unfortunately Smith was injured on this play and was unable to return; his status is unknown at this time.

"Stat of the game: 30. That’s the combined number of tackles for loss in this game, including a whopping 14 sacks. Neither QB was given any time to throw, both run games were stuffed repeatedly, and the defensive lines simply dominated. This wasn’t a complete surprise given that both offensive lines had struggled and both defenses were strong, but the sheer number of negative plays made for a long afternoon on both sidelines."

We head to the fourth with the Eagles in striking range of the Cardinals. Jeff Smith is on the sideline, but the defense has played great. Can the Eagles pull out the victory and end their three-game losing streak?

The defense comes up HUGE as Harold Landry rumbles inside the Louisville 10 with a fumble. That sets up the first BC offensive points of the day - a 6 yard run by QB Jeff Smith. Eagles now trail 17-14

Justin Simmons intercepts UL long pass at BC 10 with 9 seconds remaining; End of 1st half, UL leads 17-7.

BC's only points came on a special teams play thanks to a blocked punt. BC has 36 yards of offense. Louisville has 200.

UL's Wallace boots 34-yard field goal to make it 17-7 with 2:51 left in first half.

Louisville uses one big play to get into plus territory and go up by 10 on a 34-yard field goal

John Johnson credited with the punt block; Robinson returned it 12 yds. for the TD. 14-7 UL at 4:37 mark in 2nd.

Didn't help that Smith scrambled backwards for like 15 yards before Rankins picked it up.

Corner blitz causes Smith to fumble, Sheldon Rankins returns it 60 yards for the touchdown. Play is under review, but looked good from here.

After Sherm Alston was drilled on the return, the Eagles start on the Louisville 40. And of course they promptly fumble for a fat guy 45 yard touchdown runback.

Lamar Jackson provided the lone points of the first quarter as BC struggled to move the ball with regularity and efficiency. Steven Daniels leading the way for the BC defense, while Kamrin Moore was carted off following an injury late in the frame. Louisville will threaten in BC territory to start the 2nd.

Leg injury for Kam Moore. Appears to be pretty serious. Gets respectful applause from Louisville faithful as cart takes him off the field.

Looks like a leg injury as Moore was carted off the field. Thoughts that it's not serious for a starting defensive back who's been really solid this season.
