On Tuesday afternoon, the Boston College men's soccer team won the second leg of the 2013-14 Orange Eagle Trophy with a 3-2 victory over visiting Syracuse. With the win, the Eagles extend their lead in the season-long athletics competition with Syracuse to 6-0.

The Eagles jumped out to a fast start, scoring two goals in the games first eight minutes. In the sixth minute, BC's Matt Wednelken headed home a Diego Medina-Mendez cross to make it 1-0. Just two minutes later, Medina-Mendez's strike extended the lead to 2-0.

Syracuse would get on the board in the 15th minute when Emil Ekblom put away a SU cross to cut the lead in half. Ekblom again got in on the scoring in the 53rd minute, slotting a Jordan Murrell cross past Boston College goalie Alex Kapp for the equalizer.

The hero of the game, however, was Boston College's Nick Butler. Off a Zeiko Lewis corner, Wednelken headed a pass to Nick Butler who headed home the game-winner in the 58th minute. Syracuse threatened late, including hitting the post in the 75th minute and taking three corner kicks in the game's final two minutes, but Boston College would hold on for the 3-2 victory. Kapp made three saves for his first win of the season.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 5-3-2, 3-2-1 ACC on the year. Syracuse falls to 8-4-0, 2-4-0 ACC.
