Allyson Frei threw 6.1 shutout innings to earn the win as Boston College downed Georgia State 1-0 on Wednesday. BC only recorded two hits on the day, but one of them was a solo shot by Jessie Daulton. It stood up as enough to win the game for BC.

The win continues BC's stretch of strong play. They've now won 8 of their last 9 games teo improve to 13-9 on the season. Their lone loss in that stretch game yesterday, an extra innings loss to #10-ranked Georgia. BC continues their Peach State swing tomorrow at Kennesaw State.

The Boston College softball team started their season strong this afternoon, beating the Maryland Terrapins 9-1 in Tempe, Arizona.

Allyson Frei got the start for BC and pitched four innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit. She was credited with the victory.

BC is right back at it later today, taking on San Jose State at 4 PM.

The Boston College softball season comes to a halt in the ACC quarterfinals, where the Eagles fell to top-seeded Florida State 4-2. BC finished the season 27-24, while FSU is now 43-12 on the year.

After falling behind 3-0 in the fourth inning, BC battled back with a two-run homer by Chloe Sharabba in the top of the 5th - but that was as close as BC would get. FSU added an insurance run to salt the game away.

ESPN3 will be streaming today's BC softball ACC tournament quarterfinal vs. #1-ranked Florida State, with first pitch scheduled for 11 AM. The game will also be televised on ACC regional sports networks, including NESN in New England. Good luck to the Eagles as they attempt to pull a huge upset!

Like the baseball team, BC softball is in the midst of a southern swing to kick off the season. After yesterday's loss to UCF, BC is a pretty solid 12-7 on the year. They play again on Friday afternoon when they take on Western Michigan at 4:15 p.m.
