The Boston College softball team keeps rolling toward its best season in years, completing an emphatic three-game sweep of Syracuse over the weekend to clinch a spot in the eight-team ACC tournament.

BC blew out Syracuse by scores of 12-2, 5-0 and 6-0, leaving no doubt as they romped their way to a record of 28-21(10-8 ACC) going in to the final week of the regular season. Jessica Dreswick spun a complete game, one-hit shutout on Sunday to cap off the sweep.

The win moves the Eagles in to a tie for 4th place in the crowded ACC standings, as their table position is now level with Virginia Tech (13-11), though the Hokies have the tiebreaker by virtue of head-to-head record against BC. BC now has a 3.5 game pad over 9th-place Pitt, meaning even if Pitt sweeps the Eagles next weekend, they'll still be in the ACC tournament.

BC has the inside track in the race for 4th place in the ACC and last ups in the quarterfinal round of the single-elimination ACC tournament, which starts on Thursday, May 12 in Raleigh. BC and VT are tied but the Hokies are done with ACC play, while BC has 3 vs. Pitt and can pass the Hokies by taking 2-of-3. The Eagles also have a 1.5 game pad over 6th place North Carolina, so taking 2-of-3 would lock down 4th.
