The Boston College Eagles’ winning ways came to a halt Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, as the Eagles were defeated for the first time this season 2-1 by the Villanova Wildcats.

Villanova struck first during the first half. Padriac McCullaugh, coming off the bench, scored in the 32nd minute to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead, which held going into the half.
The Eagles responded in the second half. Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel scored the equalizer in the 51st minute, tying the game for the Eagles. With the goal, Schulze-Geisthovel continued a now four-game goal scoring streak.
The two teams were deadlocked until the 87th minute, when Jacob Anderson netted the go-ahead goal to give the Wildcats the 2-1 lead, which held until the final whistle.
The Eagles will begin ACC play on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they take on the Duke Blue Devils in Newton, Mass., at 6 P.M.
