Eagles win 1-0 over Fordham, advance to round of 32

The Gavel

Boston College’s Bermudan star keeps driving them forward in clutch situations.

For 82 minutes, Boston College hammered away at Fordham, outshooting them, outchancing them, and doing everything but scoring. It was getting close to feeling like “one of those games” where the other team would get one chance and convert to knock the Eagles out.

But in the 82nd minute, Simon Enstrom found Zeiko Lewis in the box, and Lewis put it in the back of the net - his fourth goal of the postseason. The goal stood up for the game winner, advancing BC in to the Round of 32 on Sunday at Albany.

Lewis now has remarkably has four postseason goals in four games after scoring 3 goals for the entirety of the regular season. He had a total of 11 career goals coming in to this season. Lewis is primarily known for his assists, breaking the Eagles’ all-time assists record - but he’s becoming a goalscoring machine at the right time.

BC outshot Fordham 18-7 on the night and was essentially in complete control for most of the game.

The Eagles, now 9-8-3, travel to Albany on Sunday at 1 PM with a Sweet 16 spot on the line.
