The Boston College men's soccer team is on to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2002 following Sunday afternoon's thrilling penalty kick shootout win over Georgetown. The Eagles have been the Cardiac Kids on their route to the Elite Eight, winning a narrow 1-0 game in round one, scoring an OT goal in round two, then winning on PKs yesterday.
They'll look to keep their dramatic run going on Saturday, when they will take on #6 in the nation Syracuse at 2 PM in upstate New York. Syracuse punched their ticket on Sunday afternoon also, cruising past Seattle 3-1. BC and Syracuse have met once before this season, with the Eagles edging the Orange 2-1 back on October 30 in Newton.
With the upset win over Georgetown, BC became the only un-seeded team to make the Elite Eight, though BC just narrowly missed a spot in the field's top 16 seeds. The other remaining teams were seeded #1, #2, #4, #6, #8, #10 and #12.
We'll have full coverage of this weekend's matchup all week long as the Eagles look to punch their ticket to the NCAA College Cup, to be held in Kansas City on December 11 & December 13. For now, here's a list of game times and matchups for the Elite Eight:
