Boston College Soccer Defeats Rhode Island 4-2

The men's soccer team is back in the win column with a 4-2 victory over the visiting Rams.

The Boston College men's soccer team notched another win on Tuesday afternoon, dispatching the Rhode Island Rams 4-2. The win gets the Eagles above .500 with an overall record of 4-3-1 on the year.

Senior forward Senior Charlie Rugg and freshman midfielder Derrick Boateng did all the scoring for the Eagles. Each had two goals and an assist for a career high five points. Boateng has scored all three of his career goals over the last two games.

BC took a 3-0 lead to the locker room. Rugg opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an assist from Jason Abbott and Boateng. Boateng made it 2-0 in the 28th minute when he beat out the defender racing to a ball tricking toward the goal line. Rugg added his second goal of the match in the 37th minute and Boateng pushed the lead back to three goals in the 59th minute.

The Eagles held a 17-10 advantage in shots on the game, including a 10-3 margin in the first half.

Boston College goalkeeper Alex Kapp got the start over Luthy, recording just one save in the game's first 45 minutes. Luthy played the entire second half, giving up two goals and making two saves.

After three non-conference games, the Eagles return to ACC play this Friday as they host the N.C. State Wolfpack at 7 PM on Newton Campus field. If you are in town for the Clemson game, consider heading on over to Newton to catch the match.
