After falling to #3 North Carolina 4-0 last night in the regular season finale, the Boston College men's soccer team has drawn the 5th seed in next week's ACC Men's Soccer Championship. The Eagles (8-5-4, 3-2-3 ACC) will travel to #4 Clemson (6-8-4, 3-2-3 ACC) for their quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 6 at 7 PM.
Here is the complete ACC Men's Soccer Championship bracket:
First Round Game at Maryland's Ludwig Field
No. 8 N.C. State (10-9-0, 1-7-0 ACC) vs. No. 9 Virginia Tech (6-9-3, 0-7-1 ACC)
ACC Quarterfinals at campus sites
No. 1 Maryland (14-1-2, 6-1-1 ACC) vs. No. 8 N.C. State / No. 9 Virginia Tech winner
No. 2 North Carolina (14-2-1, 6-1-1) vs. No. 7 Duke (7-7-1, 3-4-1)
No. 3 Wake Forest (11-3-4, 4-1-3) vs. No. 6 Virginia (9-6-2, 3-4-1)
No. 4 Clemson (6-8-4, 3-2-3) vs. No. 5 Boston College (8-5-4, 3-2-3)
Clemson and Boston College played to a scoreless 0-0 tie back on October 13 and earned the same number of points (12) during the regular season. But it's the Tigers that earned the lower seed (and a home quarterfinal match) by virtue of CU's 2-2 tie vs. top-ranked Maryland.
Following Tuesday night's quarterfinals, the tournament then moves to the Maryland SoccerPlex at Germantown on Friday, November 9 for the ACC semifinals. The two semifinals are at 5:30 and 8 PM. Both matches will be televised on ESPN3. The ACC Championship will be played on Sunday, November 11 at noon on ESPNU.
Last season, the seventh seeded Eagles sprung a pair of 2-1 upsets over Maryland and Duke to advance to the ACC Championship Game before falling to ACC champ and eventual National Champion North Carolina 3-1 in the final.
Go Eagles!
