National Championship For Scott Rasmussen ‘20, Erika Reinke ‘17 Caps Successful Weekend For Boston College Sailing

In a weekend of three different meets for the Boston College sailing team, the Eagles will bring home two individual championships and a team race win.

At Texas A&M Galveston, two BC sailors came home with national championships in the Men’s and Women’s LaserPerformance Singlehanded Nationals. On the men’s side, Scott Rasmussen, a freshmen, edged past Charleston’s Gerald Williams on the last race of the meet. Rasmussen finished with 81 points, edging out Williams’ 84.

On the women’s side, senior Erika Reinke won eight of 14 races in the meet, blowing past the competition. Reinke received 31 points in the meet, blowing past second place finisher Kelly-Ann Arrindell of Charleston and Brown’s Lindsey Baab, who both finished with 70 points on the day. BC’s Isabella Loosbrock, a sophomore, finished in 11th with 135 points.

In team races, the Eagles won the Hap Moore Team Race hosted by Connecticut College. The Eagles had a record of 13-5 in the meet, edging out Tufts, which had a record of 10-8. The Hap Moore Team Race is an in-conference regatta.
