NBC ProHockeyTalk reports that incoming Boston College freshman defenseman Mike Campoli was removed from the ice on a stretcher this afternoon after taking a big hit during Buffalo Sabres development camp.
Campoli, an undrafted defenseman who played for the USNTDP last year and was invited to Sabres prospect camp, was reportedly talking and smiling both on the ice and in the hospital. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Buffalo.

Campoli is one of the top blue line prospects expected to join the Eagles this fall. Obviously we have no word yet on the extent of his injuries or whether this impacts his status for the upcoming season, but what's most important is wishing him a full recovery. Thankfully, the early reports from the hospital sound encouraging.
We will post updates as they become available.
