Boston University unveiled its 2016-2017 home schedule on Wednesday evening, as the countdown to the college hockey season continues. In it, they confirmed what had been previously rumored: BC's annual trip to Agganis Arena will take place on Friday, January 13.
While the BC home date hasn't been officially confirmed yet, we've reported that it's set for a traditional home-and-home on January 13 & 14.
This will be the third straight season that the BC game at Agganis Arena will take place during BU's student break, and the second straight year that the BC home game will be during BC's student break. Great work, everyone!
This year, we do know there will be a third act to the BC-BU play, as the Eagles and Terriers will square off in the first round of the Beanpot on Monday, February 6.
Other tidbits of interest from the BU schedule:
-BU will play the US Under 18 team in an exhibition on Thursday, October 6. If BC is going to break its long stretch of having not played the U18s (it's been since 2009), it won't be that weekend, as BC is heading off to Denver for the IceBreaker.
-BU does not have a home game listed on Saturday, January 7, and they do have a full complement of home games on their schedule (2x Notre Dame, plus 1x 9 other opponents). With Mike McMahon reporting BU will play UMass as part of Frozen Fenway, we can probably guess at this point it will be BC vs. PC and BU vs. UMass, with BC and BU as the "away" teams, as part of a doubleheader on January 7. That should actually sell some tickets.
