Sir Jerry York and the Boston College hockey team has secured a verbal commitment from Shattuck St. Mary's forward T.J. Walsh, one of the country's top young goal scorers.
Here's the scouting report on Walsh from SB Nation College Hockey:
Walsh, a Shrewsbury, Mass. native, is considered a natural goal scorer with good offensive instincts. The move to Minnesota from his native Massachusetts meant heading away from home to join one of the elite hockey programs in the nation. It is a key bit of recruiting news for BC, who has lost some ground on the recruiting trail the past year to a rejuvenated BU program.
Lately, Boston University has been stockpiling elite local talent on the recruiting trail, so it's nice to see BC respond by nabbing one of the nation's top young, Massachusetts-born goal scorers. The Kid is obviously pleased with this development.
LRT- BACK IN THE GAME !!!!!!! HUGE. COME ON!— BC Hockey Blog (@bchockeyblog1) October 12, 2014
The 14-year-old originally from Shrewsbury, Mass. has a 2000-birth year (my freshman year at BC ... because I didn't feel old enough as it is), putting him tentatively in BC's incoming recruiting class of 2018. Walsh is the second Shattuck St. Mary's (Minnesota) forward to verbally commit to the program, joining Graham McPhee, who's slated to join the program in 2016.
Walsh is BC's first commit for the 2018-19 season.
