Top Moments of the 2015-16 Boston College Hockey Season: Part II

Moments 10-6 of our countdown

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

We continue our look at the top moments of the past season. Here's a link to Part 1.

On to the top 10...

#10: Milosz to the Rescue vs. Providence - January 8-9

The afternoon of January 8 was probably #PeakPanic this season. BC was coming off a three-game losing streak, including a loss to Ohio-Freaking-State and a heartbreaking third period collapse against PC in Florida. To make matters worse, Thatcher Demko reportedly suffered an "upper body injury" (we know what that usually means) and was going to be out for an unknown period of time. This issue was compounded by the fact that backup goalie Chris Birdsall suffered concussion issues that ended his season early.

Enter Ian Milosz. Going in to a crucial stretch of the season, BC had to rely on a goalie they plucked out of juniors halfway through the season to enroll for the spring semester. All he did was backstop the Eagles to a three-point weekend against the defending national champions, kicking off a monster month of January. If not for Milosz, BC would not have won the regular season trophy, and possibly wouldn't have ended up with the seed they got in Worcester. He's a huge part of this season's story, regardless of whether he starts much (or at all) next season.

9. BC Women's Hockey obliterates the competition in the Beanpot - February 5 & 12

Winning the trophy was fun in and of itself, especially after the disappointment of 2015. But the manner in which BC delivered an unholy thrashing to Harvard and Northeastern in the Beanpot this season was just jaw-dropping - particularly the Eagles' dizzying first period against Harvard, in which BC scored 5 goals to smoke the Crimson out early.

8. Ryan Fitzgerald sends BC to the Garden - March 13

At the risk of sounding spoiled (OK, it goes beyond a risk at this point for most BC hockey fans), two years without a trip to the Garden for the Hockey East semifinals was unacceptable. Three years would have been a disaster. It almost happened - UVM led BC in the third period, but a Joey Dudek goal out of nowhere tied the game up and sent it to OT. That's when Ryan Fitzgerald delivered an OT game-winner:

7. Eagles win a thriller against Denver: Matt Gaudreau scores in the final minute - October 30

We knew this would be a talented team going in to the season. We knew this would be a damn good team on October 30, when the Eagles responded to the Jeremy Bracco drama with one of their highest profile wins of the season. To boot, Matty Gaudreau - who was inserted in to the top 9 after Bracco bounced - scored the game winning goal.

6. BC survives and advances against Harvard - March 25

There was a lot of trepidation about BC's tournament chances after crashing out in the Hockey East semifinals and being pushed to the brink by UVM in the quarterfinals. BC came out firing against the Crimson in Worcester, scoring an early greasy goal and sending a message that the Eagles came to play that weekend.

Tomorrow we move on to the top 5 moments... what would be your picks?
