According to Alex Tuch in Boston College's postgame press conference last night, the Eagles will once again be without the services of junior forward Matt Gaudreau this evening when they take on Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA Northeast Regional Final.
Tuch said that Gaudreau "is a big asset that we lost for the weekend when he had an injury against Northeastern." BC Hockey Blog had earlier mentioned on Twitter that Gaudreau did not skate in practice all week. His injury has not been reported other than Tuch's comment that it occurred during the Northeastern game.
Gaudreau's injury was one factor in a series of lineup shuffles for BC last night. Jerry York put together a big kahuna/YOLO line, uniting Colin White with Alex Tuch and Ryan Fitzgerald at the top of the BC lineup. The move paid dividends; the trio combined for 18 shot attempts (16 at even strength), including a pair of goals for Tuch.
Chris Calnan appeared healthier than he has in months and ended the game skating along side Austin Cangelosi and Miles Wood, reuniting at trio that found success early in the season. Gilmour, Sanford and Doherty comprised a third line while JD Dudek, Chris Brown and Travis Jeke played pretty well in limited time on line 4. (Calnan had started the game on the fourth line but swapped with Brown pretty early on.)
One would suspect BC will have a similar look tonight when they hit the ice at 9 PM against Minnesota-Duluth.
