Due to the impending snowstorm, TD Garden announced that the Beanpot semifinals, originally scheduled for tomorrow night, have been postponed to Tuesday night. The game times will remain the same: Boston University vs. Harvard at 5 PM, Boston College vs. Northeastern at 8 PM.
Many know of how the Beanpot played through the legendary Blizzard of '78 and were looking forward to a potential repeat of that. However, this move is not unprecedented. A heavy blizzard postponed the semifinals of the 1983 Beanpot. Like this year, the 1983 semifinals were played on Tuesday.
Tuesday's forecast calls for bitter cold, but an end to snowy conditions in the wee hours of the morning, meaning there should be no threat to Tuesday's events.
There has been no word at this point on how the rescheduling impacts the women's Beanpot, whose semifinals are also currently scheduled to be played on Tuesday night. Odds are they will just play at the same time, but that would be really unfortunate for fans of the four teams involved.
UPDATE: According to Harvard's Twitter account, the women's Beanpot will go on as planned on Tuesday, at the same time as the men's games. BC plays NU in the early game on Tuesday at the women's Beanpot.
We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
