A bit of hockey scheduling news for your Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, the Colorado Springs Gazette's Joe Paisley reported that Boston College will host Colorado College on October 24 at 7 p.m. It'll be the first road trip of the year for the Tigers, who will play at New Hampshire the following night in your typical western-team-comes-east-to-play-two-different-eastern-schools weekend series.
The two programs last met in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament, where the fourth-seeded Tigers bounced the top-seeded and defending national champion Boston College, 8-4, from the West Regional in St. Louis. I'd say the Eagles will have revenge on their minds in this one, except for the fact that not a single player from that stacked 2010-11 squad will don the maroon and gold sweater come October.
This will be BC's first-ever regular season meeting against a team from the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Boston College and Colorado College have met 18 times previously, with the Eagles holding a 12-5-1 edge in the all-time series.
Boston College is also set to travel to Colorado to take on defending NCHC champ Denver in a two-game series on October 31 and November 1 at Magness Arena. BC and Denver met in this year's NCAA Tournament first round with the Eagles punishing the Pios to the tune of 6-2. The two programs may meet later on in the year at the Dartmouth Showcase Tournament on January 2 and 3, where BC and Denver will be joined by Brown and Dartmouth.
Per the Kid, other rumored non-conference games include home tilts with Minnesota, Michigan and Harvard and road games against Michigan State and RIT. Dates have yet to be set for these contests.
