About four months after other teams started releasing their schedules, BC announced the men's and women's hockey schedules for 2013-2014 on Tuesday. One of the byproducts of not announcing the schedule until September is that there are pretty much no surprises when the release comes... but here it is.
It should be said that the annual delay is not BC's fault; one of the ACC's rules is that BC pretty much needs to work around the most minute scheduling details of both men's and women's basketball before the hockey schedule can be finalized. All the more reason for BCEagle74 to pony up the cash for the Jerry York Ice Palace on Brighton Campus.
Schedule highlights:
-Oh my god, there is hockey in September. The women's team plays an exhibition against "Western College of Canada" on September 28 at Walter Brown Arena (okay). I thought Western College was one of those made up teams that you use to fill your schedule in EA Sports NCAA Football. It will be good to see them in real life.
-The men also have a nice, early exhibition if you can't wait for your fix... Sunday, October 6, 1 PM, against St. Francis Xavier. This will be a doubleheader day, as the women will follow that up with their home opener against Maine.
-The men have a very difficult start to the season, traveling to Michigan on October 10, hosting RPI on 10/12 in the home opener, hosting Wisconsin on 10/18, then traveling to Minnesota for two games on 10/25 and 10/27 before opening conference play.
-Jerry York Appreciation Night is scheduled for Friday, October 18, against Wisconsin... that's going to be an awesome night.
-The women's team plays a tough two game set at Cornell on November 29 and 30, which is likely to be crucial in the pairwise rankings.
-BC hosts the women's Beanpot this yaer at Conte Forum, starting with their first round matchup with BU on Tuesday, February 4.
-The men's regular season finale is March 1 against Notre Dame.
Schedule lowlights:
-Frozen Fenway Version 17.5 is still happening.
-The men's team is playing in something called the "Three Rivers Classic" against Bowling Green and the winner of Penn State vs. Robert Morris on December 27 & 28.
-The women's Hockey East semifinals and finals are in Hyannis again, for whatever reason.
