Despite Boston College's 6-1 loss to Minnesota this afternoon, it was Hockey East that came out on top of the inaugural Big Ten / Hockey East Challenge. The conference earned 18 points, with Vermont's 5-2 win over Penn State clinching the victory. Both BC and BU fell to Minnesota and Michigan State, respectively, but Lowell picked up a 2-1 win over at Michigan giving the conference an additional three points.
Michigan (6 points) and Minnesota (3) earned nine of the Big Ten's 11 points. Lowell led the way for Hockey East with six points with two road victories over Michigan State and Michigan.
Next year let's hope both conferences do better. Go Hockey East!
