Boston College head men's hockey coach Jerry York suffered a second detached retina of his right eye today - Saturday, March 16 - and will miss the duration of the Hockey East quarterfinal-round series against Vermont. He is scheduled for surgery on Monday morning at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
Associate head coaches Mike Cavanaugh and Greg Brown will lead the team in York's absence. The fifth-ranked Eagles and Catamounts face off in game two of a best-of-three game Hockey East quarterfinal series on Saturday, March 16 at Kelley Rink at 7 p.m. Boston College captured a 4-2 home win over Vermont on Friday night.
York previously underwent outpatient eye surgery on his right eye to repair a detached retina in early January.
