The legend of the Boston College hockey gold sweaters continues to grow as the Eagles captured their fourth straight Beanpot title last night, 6-3, over the Huskies. The Eagles improve to 14-0-0 while wearing "the golds," outscoring opponents 61-17 (!).

That perfect 14-0-0 record includes a 5-0-0 mark against the Northeastern Huskies. The BC golds = Jim Madigan nightmare fuel.
The sweater is the brain child of Jack Cadagan (BC '58). When Cadagan found out the program was playing at Fenway Park last season, he asked Coach York if the team was going to wear a special jersey for the event. York told Cadagan that they hadn't, so the former senior Eagles captain made a donation to have a special sweater made up. The sweater is a remake of an old sweater from the 1950s, replacing a white base color with gold. The rest is history.
With one trophy in the books, let's hope the program puts these sweaters on moth balls until the next trophy opportunity.
