Zen Master York is making a change at goaltender tonight, starting sophomore Brian Billett over senior Parker Milner. Milner has struggled of late, allowing 26 goals on 259 shots since the Mariucci Classic opener against UAH. Since the holiday break, Milner has a 3.40 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
Billett will be making his first start since last season's 7-4 loss vs. Maine up in Orono on January 21. He allowed five goals while saving 28 in the Eagles' final loss of the 2011-12 season. The Brunswick, Maine native has played just 15:40 this season in relief of Milner in the 8-1 loss to the Gophers, allowing two goals on five shots.
This is eerily similar to the Eagles' goaltending situation a year ago, where Milner was pulled for Billett following the Eagles' 5-3 loss to the Terriers in early December. Milner would be benched for the next four games, face Michigan Tech in the GLI Consolation Game and then miss the next five games of 2012, including the Frozen Fenway game against Northeastern. Milner would return for the January 27-28 series against New Hampshire only to rattle off 19 straight wins three shutouts and the program's fifth National championship and third in five years.
According to the kid, Boston College defenseman Colin Sullivan is also a scratch for tonight. Both he and Matheson are battling upper body injuries, forcing the Eagles' to roll with just four defensemen and Steve Whitney, the team's leading goal scorer.
INJURY NEWS- Colin Sullivan is out tonight w/upper body injury. Steve Whitney will play defense. Totally new lines for BC.
