2012-13 Boston College Hockey Season Preview: Four Straight? Back-To-Back Titles?

Can the Eagles win four straight Beanpot titles? What about Hockey East? Dare we say back-to-back titles?

Four Straight Beanpot Titles?

In the now 61-year history of the Beanpot, a senior class sweeping all four Beanpots it competes in has happened four times times, all at BU: the class of '73, winning all four titles from 1970-1973, and BU's classes of '98, '99 and '00 who contributed to a record run of six straight Beanpot titles for the Terriers between 1995 and 2000.

This year's BC senior class can become the first group of Eagles to achieve this honor; the defense of the Beanpot begins against Harvard this year on Feb. 4.

Four Straight Hockey East Titles?

No senior class has ever won four consecutive Hockey East titles; if BC can continue its incredible run, having won six of the past eight Hockey East tournaments, they will make more history in March.

Back to Back Titles?

The year after a national title has been a disappointing one for BC under York: 2002 and 2009 were mediocre seasons with no postseason; 2011 was an all-encompassing romp that suddenly came to a shocking end in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Can this year's BC team go deep two years in a row?

Teams to win consecutive NCAA hockey titles:

Michigan (1951, 1952, 1953)
Michigan (1955, 1956)
