Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec’s injured his right hand in the first drive of Saturday’s game against UMass, and updates have been pretty scarce since then. BC Athletics announced that he would be getting x-rays and tests done on the hand/wrist over the weekend, and while there haven’t been any updates just yet on the results, Phil Jurkovec himself did post a photo to an Instagram story on Monday afternoon showing his throwing hand fully wrapped at Newton-Wellesley Hospital:
This is, needless to say, not the most positive update we could have gotten, but it’s also a bare minimum of information, so we should all try to keep our heads. You don’t want to speculate as to whether that’s wrappings from surgery or what, but he’s clearly in a hospital bed and he’s clearly not exactly signing autographs for the doctors at the moment.
Boston College fans will probably enter one of the many stages of grief over this, but it’s best to wait and see what BC Athletics reports once there is a public update. Even if it was some kind of surgery, there are plenty of minimally invasive procedures that can be done on a hand/wrist that wouldn’t necessarily require a long-term absence.
As you can see, we are currently in the Denial stage of grief here at BC Interruption.
We’ll post more updates as they come available.
