We knew it was coming after the explosion of activity on Twitter last night, but Boston College Athletics has made it official: Jeff Hafley is the new head coach of Boston College Football!
What better way but to let @CollegeGameDay announce the news?!

Last night’s “announcements” were filled with words like “likely” and “expected to be” and “finalizing,” so after a very pleasant night of celebration and excitement, it’s nice to have the news official heading into the weekend. It seems pretty likely that we can expect Boston College to introduce Coach Hafley to the BC community on Monday morning at 10am at a pep rally on campus in the Yawkey Center.
We went over most of this last night in the Breaking News announcement, but Hafley checks almost every box you want in an exciting, swing-for-the-fences hire. He’s a young, rising coach from a power program with both college and NFL experience, and most importantly, he’s already known as a rock-star recruiter.
You never know how a hire is going to work out, but with the information we have today, this is seen almost unanimously both nationally and on campus as a home run hire, and certainly one of the best, and possible the best, hire of the 2019-2020 cycle. Look no further than the Ohio State message boards and Twitter to see how disappointed they are to lose Hafley to Chestnut Hill. Any hire could ultimately strike out, but if this one does, you can’t say that BC didn’t at least take a big swing.
Welcome (officially) to the Heights, Coach Hafley!
