There’s no other way to say it: This game was a collapse of monumental proportions for Boston College. And it was not remotely as close as the 30-13 final score would indicate.

After smashing through the Top 25 Glass Ceiling last week with a 3-0 start, everything that could go badly, did go badly against Purdue. Except special teams! Those were actually fine. Go figure. But all the hype surrounding the program has been promptly wasted away with this game. It wasn’t that we lost — it’s that we were so thoroughly non-competitive all the way back to when we lost the opening coin toss.
AJ Dillon put up a depressing 59 yards on 19 carries. Anthony Brown completely fell apart going 13-27 (48%!) for just 96 yards and a whopping 4 interceptions. The defense could not get off the field on third down seemingly at any point in the day. The game was effectively over early in the 3rd quarter, and it was pretty depressing.
The only positive we can take out of this game is that it wasn’t an ACC game, but after how badly we played today, does anyone think we’re an ACC championship game threat anymore?
The Eagles will look to get back on track against Temple next week before getting back into the ACC swing of things. We’ll have plenty of RED HOT SADNESS takes for you in the upcoming week.
