The game is definitely not over yet, but things could not have gone much worse for Boston College in the first half against Purdue.

Just about everything has been terrible. The defense can’t get off the field. The offense can’t get any rhythm going at all. AJ Dillon can’t find any room to run whatsoever (21 yards on 11 carries, yikes...). Play actions aren’t really on the table because we can’t get on schedule with runs. And to really twist the knife, the Boilermakers deflected an Anthony Brown pass straight up in the air for an interception in BC’s own end of the field with about a minute to play in the half to extend their lead from 13 to 16.
A 16 point deficit isn’t insurmountable, but the Eagles will have to play nearly perfect football from here on. Otherwise, it will have been a very, very short and depressing stay in the Top 25 for Boston College.
