Our friends over at FBSchedules.com submitted a public records request and got the details on Central Michigan's one-off visit to Boston College in 2017.
Per FBSchedules, the contract, which is now official, sets the game date as September 30, 2017. If you're making plans ahead of time, BC's four no conference games in 2017 are:
September 2 - at Northern Illinois
September 16 - Notre Dame
September 30 - Central Michigan
November 18 - at UConn
The other key detail unveiled in the contract is that BC is paying Central Michigan $625,000 to make the trip. This actually isn't nearly as high as some MAC programs have fetched for non conference road appearances, so all in all not a bad contract for BC.
Central Michigan was quietly added to BC's schedule in recent months, replacing a previously anticipated game against Richmond. The shifting of the schedule means that BC's home football slate in 2017 will likely meet just about every reasonable demand people have made in recent years - 7 home games, no FCS games, a marquee non-conference opponent, and marginally challenging other non-conference opponents. The home ACC slate will also feature Florida State and Virginia Tech. (Update: We mistakenly said NIU was a home game in 2017. It's away.)
The 2017 schedule should be a much needed boon to BC's ticket sales, but only if 2016's on-field performance sets them up to take advantage of it. If BC looks lost again this season, they will be set up for a really tough time the next year.
